Knowledge Beneath the Surface

What Is the Applied Anatomy Cadaver Course?

This is a facial dissection course built specifically for aesthetic providers. It combines didactic lecture with hands-on facial anatomy dissection for injectors, allowing students to explore injection planes, danger zones, and real-life tissue structure in a cadaver lab setting.

Topics include:

  • Neurovascular mapping of high-risk areas
  • Vascular occlusion pathways and filler complication prevention
  • Dissection of key neurotoxin treatment zones (glabella, masseters, orbicularis, platysma)
  • Mapping injection planes for the cheeks, nasolabial folds, tear troughs, chin, and jawline
  • Understanding vascular danger zones in facial aesthetics training
  • Connecting anatomic knowledge to adverse outcomes (e.g., Tyndall effect, asymmetry, intravascular events)

This is not a passive demo—it’s a cadaveric dissection for aesthetics professionals who want to inject with precision and protect their patients through anatomical clarity.

Who Is This Course For?

This injectable anatomy training is designed for experienced medical professionals who want to advance their knowledge of facial structure and improve clinical safety. It’s ideal for:

  • Nurse Practitioners (NPs)
  • Physician Assistants (PAs)
  • Registered Nurses (RNs)
  • Physicians (MDs/DOs)
  • Dentists (DMD/DDS)

It is particularly valuable for those pursuing advanced neurotoxin certification or integrating off-label neurotoxin techniques into their practice.

Inside the Dissection Experience

COURSE OVERVIEW

Applied Anatomy at Aesthetic Mentor™ is an accredited course for medical professionals to help gain a deeper understanding of the skeletal, vascular, and nervous system anatomy of the face and how it applies to neurotoxin and dermal filler injections. While observing a facial dissection on a fresh cadaver, you will participate in an in-depth discovery of each layer of the face, have an opportunity to inject the facial tissue with dermal fillers, and review how the filler relates to the anatomy. You will also see advanced treatment techniques and demonstrate assessment skills to enhance safety while achieving optimal outcomes sought by patients.

A combination of live cadaveric dissection, classroom didactic, and injection demonstrations offer a unique learning environment and platform to expand the learner's knowledge.

This course is led by Dr. Joseph A. Russo, a Harvard-trained, board-certified Plastic Surgeon with more than 30 years of experience, and his team of expert educators. Following a comprehensive and interactive lecture, a hands-on clinical practicum session gives students the opportunity to visualize and understand facial anatomy.
