Are you a physician working in a hospital, exhausted by long irregular hours?

Begin a Career Path in Aesthetic Medicine

Do you love making a difference in your patients’ lives, but the stress of critical care is getting you down? You may want to explore a career in Aesthetic Medicine: the practice of both surgical and non-surgical treatments to improve and maintain the cosmetic appearance of the face and body.

Over the past 25 years, exciting technological developments have increased the accessibility of minimally invasive aesthetic treatments. These treatments yield compelling results, and high levels of patient satisfaction - without the expense and long recovery times typically associated with traditional plastic surgery.

Reimagine Your Role in Patient Care

For non-core physicians (those trained outside of traditional cosmetic specialties like dermatology or plastic surgery), medical aesthetics presents a rewarding path to career renewal. The field offers the opportunity to apply clinical expertise in a setting that is typically lower stress, more flexible, and centered around positive patient outcomes.

Aesthetic medicine allows physicians to maintain hands-on patient care while stepping away from the long hours and emotional toll often associated with hospital or critical care environments. Many non-core physicians find that aesthetics provides a better work-life balance, more control over their schedules, and a meaningful way to connect with patients through confidence-boosting treatments.

Why Now Is the Time to Train

The field of medical aesthetics is experiencing rapid and sustained growth. In 2023 alone, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported approximately 15.8 million injectable procedures performed across the U.S., with neurotoxins accounting for around 9.5 million treatments and hyaluronic acid fillers making up another 5.3 million. These numbers underscore a significant shift in public attitudes toward cosmetic enhancements as more people seek out non-surgical options to maintain or improve their appearance.

This increased demand has created a strong and expanding job market for licensed professionals trained in aesthetic injectables. While major hubs like Boston are at the forefront of this boom, there is also rising demand in smaller cities and suburban areas, offering promising career opportunities for aesthetic nurses across a wide geographic range.
